Jackson County Comprehensive High School is a high school in Jefferson, Georgia. The school competes in region 8-AAA. The mascot is a black panther, which is based on the legend passed down from Native Americans who inhabited the region. Former Superintendent Andy Byers chose the mascot when the school was moved from Braselton to Jefferson in the 1980s. JCCHS is known for its academics, band, Army JROTC, FFA, softball, wrestling, tennis, basketball, and football. However, they are more profoundly known for their Baseball Program. Under the lead of Coach Tommy Fountain and their ace pitcher, Paul Foley, they have made 6 Elite Eight Appearances in the last 5 years. ==Academics== Classes offered are: English I-IV, Math I, Math II, Math III, Math IV, Biology, Physical Science, Environmental Science, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Chemistry, Physics, Civics, World History, American History, Economics, AP Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, French, Spanish, Creative Writing, Psychology, Drama, and multiple AP and dual enrollment courses. Vocational classes include Theater, Agriculture, Business Education, Family and Consumer Science, Healthcare Science, Information Tech, Manufacturing Tech, Video Broadcasting, Physical Education, Art, Youth Apprenticeship, and JROTC. The Fine Arts department includes Drama, Band, and Chorus.
